Decarbonisation at Addenbrooke's

Eyre Group has successfully delivered a major decarbonisation project at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, in partnership with R G Carter, including the construction and installation of a new Energy Centre.

The scheme supports the hospital’s wider ambition to reduce carbon emissions and transition to low‑carbon, energy‑efficient technologies.

Our team led the installation, integration, and commissioning of the facility, which includes fourteen air source and four water source heat pumps. Now fully operational, the Energy Centre supplies heating to five buildings across the site, including the Frank Lee Leisure Centre, residential blocks, and Acorn House.

Despite the challenges of routing heating mains above ground through protected tree lines, the project has been delivered successfully. It is already being showcased to other NHS Trusts as a model for future low‑carbon developments.

We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in this important and sustainable achievement.
