Eyre Group are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Apprentice Engineer with talent and ambition, who has a desire to learn and challenge themselves and push boundaries. Most importantly we are looking for an Apprentice who possess a genuine passion to work in the building services industry and has a desire to deliver the best for themselves and our customers.

You will work alongside and learn from qualified engineers to develop your trade skills and knowledge of site-based activities, which will complement the academic studies to NVQ Level 3.

Our working region is East Anglia, mainly within Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Bedfordshire, and basic working hours of Monday – Friday 07:30 to 15:30, although additional weekday and weekend work may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of the BESA National Agreement.
  • Working with lead engineers, learning on live projects, installation methods, servicing, maintenance and testing/inspection of all types of Electrical Installations.
  • Working within our General Works and Maintenance dept as well as our large works delivery teams. The role involves working at clients and customers premises, the trainee will be expected to travel to the place of work.
  • The successful candidate will primarily be working within Commercial, Industrial premises and Construction sites.
  • The trainee will be provided with full PPE and corporate clothing.
  • All mandatory training required to carry out the role will be provided by the company, this will include but not be limited to Asbestos Awareness, Mobile towers, MEWPS and any other trade specific mandatory training.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • We are looking for candidates who have:
  • GCSE or equivalent grades in English: A*-C or 9-4 Maths: A*-C or 9-4
  • A flexible approach and attitude as the position will require the candidate to work at various locations throughout the East of England (Driving licence essential)
  • Practically minded, with the ability to successfully balance work and studying to work to deadlines and prioritise.
  • Be self-motivated, committed, with positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • As a trainee you will be enrolled in a college course as part of your training and must be prepared to attend a suitable training provider for at least 1 day a week.
  • Be willing to work as part of a team and take instruction, direction, and guidance.
  • You will have good housekeeping skills whilst taking pride in your work.
  • Full valid UK diving licence is essential.
  • Able to accommodate early starts and/or late finishes when required.
