Background

Due to a sustainable increase of workload, we are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our General Works and Maintenance team in Cambridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join a well-established company within the Cambridge area, working in various sectors over the past 60 years including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Defence and Research, servicing clients’ requirements throughout Cambridgeshire and the neighbouring counties.

Reporting to the Small Works & Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be required to liaise directly with our repeat clients, representing the business in a proud professional manner.

The main function of the role will be to carry out the service and repair works to a variety of mechanical and electrical systems. The successful candidate will ideally have at least 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role including planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and breakdown attendance for different types of mechanical and electrical systems in a commercial and industrial environment, as well as having the ability to keep calm and resolve challenges.

You must be able to work without supervision and use your own initiative as well as be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and understanding of H&S requirements.

The core hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.00pm with occasional weekend working and overtime as required by the company.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience / qualifications:

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience of maintaining and repairing MEP installations
  • Either time served Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship completed or gained adequate experience from undertaking a similar role to be competent
  • A good understanding of both Mechanical and Electrical systems
  • Ability to plan quarterly and annual maintenance tasks
  • Experienced in fault finding and reactive breakdown attendance
  • Knowledge & experience of the industrial and commercial industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full driving licence – (Essential) - A fully expensed Company Vehicle will be provided for work use only
