Senior Contracts Manager



As the Senior Contracts Manager, you will ensure the contracts team are focused on delivering projects in line with the clients requirements to the company’s high standards.

Reporting directly to the Norwich Business Manager, this is a senior position within our business who will manage a team for successful project delivery from pre-contract to end of defects, whilst also undertaking the activities of a Contracts Manager.

Although the position requires an electrical disciplined and bias candidate, you will be expected to manage and control several multi-disciplined contracts simultaneously, whilst providing electrical technical support to other managers and mentoring junior staff.

Typical project values are approx. £2m, but usually range between £400k and £5m.

  • Support your team, your colleagues’, the clients’ team and our supply chain as required to ensure the business values are maintained
  • Provide valuable feedback to the Director on observations for business improvement
  • Manage the implementation of agreed targets or processes for your team
  • Alongside the Senior Surveyor, review the delivery teams intended project delivery plans and reach an agreement before final sign off and implementation
  • Fairly and amicably challenge decisions made by colleagues to ensure correct technical decisions are made
  • Undertake sense check electrical calculations
  • Ensure the delivery teams are adequately selected and appointed to effectively deliver the current and future obligations
  • Complete commission ability desk top studies, with technical queries resolved prior to developing, implementing and managing commissioning periods of project
  • Sound relationships within the industry marketplace, and will be responsible for procurement in line with the business targets
  • Plan ahead and prioritise workload, for yourself and your team as necessary
  • Assist your team with project variations to ensuring value is maximised and timely responses are achieved
  • Effectively plan and programme works, with the ability to communicate the strategy up and down the chain
  • Monitor project health and safety documentation for management and installation works
  • Undertake Contracts Managers duties as detailed on the Contracts Manager job criteria sheet

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • 10 years experience managing and delivering projects
  • 5 years experience in leadership or senior management position
  • Familiar with JCT and NEC suite of contracts
  • Detailed knowledge of 18th Edition wiring regulations with 2382-10 or 20
  • Working knowledge of building regulations and British & European Standards
  • JIB registered contracts manager or meets the eligibility criteria
  • Full clean driving licence


  • The following training is beneficial to the role:
  • HNC or HND in building services
  • ACIBSE, MCIBSE or MIET membership
  • SMSTS, IOSH or NEEBOSH health and safety training
  • Experience with HV systems, in addition to ELV and LV system
